Italian cuisine is among the world’s richest and most varied, from pasta to pizza to antipasti there must be something you like! So how about Italian in Australia? Italians believe in simplicity, their food is all about quality of ingredients: fresh produce!
So where is your favourite Italian in Brisbane? Il Centro? Dell’Ugo New Farm? Bucci? 1889 Enoteca? Verve? Beccofino? La Via? Vine? Pane E Vino? Ristorante Tartufo? Sugo Mi? Popolo? Giardinetto? Arrivederci? Spaghetti House? Capri? Arriva? etc etc…
Recently we revisited Mr F’s favourite Grappino Trattoria at Paddington, we were impressed with the dishes, but I know some people may think their pasta dishes are too creamy, too rich and may be not so authentic? But I guess Italy doesn’t have only one Italian cuisine, but several regional “gastronomic” identities :)
Mr F’s Grappino’s Spaghetti Marinara in Napoli Sauce and Cream of Lobster
Little Monster and I shared the Oven Baked Cannelloni with Ricotta, Sand Crab, Tiger Prawns, Spinach in Cream of Lobster Sauce. Little Monster ate half of my dish, obviously he enjoyed the sand crab so much!
We also had their signature soup Zuppa di Trattoria – Porcini mushrooms and white truffle soup. The truffle aroma is just so unforgettable!
For desserts we had the Crepes in Orange Sauce and Panna Cotta. Both were only average to our liking, may be next time we should go somewhere for desserts?
