Happy Birthday Mr F!!! Another year older another year wiser!!!
Last night we went to celebrate Mr F‘s birthday at the Australian Gourmet Traveller One Star Restaurant – Restaurant Two (or Restaurant II?). Again we bringing Little Monster along to fine dining, and thank God (!) he behaved so well! We were greeted by a lovely staff and as soon as she saw our baby she called Mr F’s first name :P (I guess they don’t usually have diners request high chair at reservation?).
The restaurant setting is very elegant, modern and chic. The left hand side is the dining area and the right hand side is the lounge.
We bought a Living Social voucher for $89 (can use it either for lunch or dinner on Monday to Thursday except December) and it included 2 main courses and 2 desserts plus your choice of red or white wine and a mixed green to share. It sounds like a very good deal! And it’s hard to believe such a famed restaurant needs to do deals? We wonder are there any tricks or hidden terms and conditions? The only condition is we have to choose from a special “Living Social Menu” rather from the alacarte menu but we are totally fine, we always choose either steak, duck or fish anyway, I am sure they must have one of them in the “special menu”. Anyway we bought couple of deals before, I’d say so far it’s 50:50 – 50% happy 50% disappointed. But tonight I have to say IT’S THE BEST SO FAR WE HAD!!! Super worthy!!!
There were four choices in the “special menu”:
Fillet of Barramundi, Tempura Calamari, Warm Salad of Barley, Asian Mushrooms and Greens, Ginger Soy and Green Shallot Dressing
Honey Glazed Duck Breast, Sweet Potato, Chilli Jam, Brocollini, Snow Peas, Caramelized Peach Sauce
Grilled Kilcoy Eye Fillet, Paris Mash, Tombe of Mushrooms and Shallots, Porcini Cream
Potato Gnocchi, Roasted Red Vegetables, Tatziki, Macadamias, Spicy Tempura Zucchini, Cumin Butter
Too easy! Mr F of course picked the beef without hesitation and I chose the fish to share with Little Monster.
The eye fillet was great! Medium-cooked! Tender and Juicy! The mushrooms and the sauce were delicious, and of course not to mention the lovely mash!
My barramundi was superb! I haven’t had a wonderful barramundi for some time, love the “just-cooked” flesh and crispy fish skin!
Here’s the mixed greens, simple and tasty.
Our desserts were Valrhona Chocolate Fondant with Banana Icecream and Daintree Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee with Vanilla Bean Icecream. Yum!
To finish off the great great great dinner we ordered a flat white and cappucinno (not included in the deal) and Mr F loved the cups so much! He even checked the bottom of the cup to see what brand it is! Guess what! It’s the Vittoria Coffee Cups!
What a great night! I am definitely interested in coming back for more decent meals :)
